During Historic Preservation Week, come to our FREE Open House, tour the Homestead, and check out our new exhibit, The History of Lace!

Lace! From the 1500’s through the end of the 1800’s lace was the way to show your wealth and sophistication! Dive into the History of Lace exhibit at the Millikin Homestead and learn about construction techniques, style development across different
countries, the economic role and the revival of forgotten hand crafts in the early and mid-twentieth century. See examples of handmade needle (point) lace and bobbin lace. Delve into the role of Irish Crochet lace, as it recaptured early Venetian Rose Point Lace, to survive the Irish Potato Famine.
